The Return of Firwinie

Well, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen her – 7 years in fact. But Firwinie somehow found her way back to the parking lot in front of our offices, with her little goslings snuggling up against the concrete barrier.

The last time we saw her was back in 2009, when she and her mate, for the 4th year in a row, made a nest outside our offices and hatched her young. But something happened in 2010 – we think it was those landscapers, they came and spoiled her (not so) natural habitat, and Firwinie found a different nesting spot.

Firwinie back in 2007

Our area is actually teeming with Canadian Geese from Spring to Fall, but Firwinie had made her abode elsewhere (maybe the furniture manufacturer across the road ?).

But low and behold, there she was this past Friday morning, surely showing the little ones where Mom and Dad used to live. Maybe she’ll get nostialgic and come back next year to her former nesting area ?

Time will tell …
