Paul Herman, President:

As Firwin’s president, Paul has seen the company grow from its small origins in the early ‘80s to its position today as a leading North American provider of insulation solutions. Originally from South Africa, Paul holds a bachelors of commerce from the University of Stellenbosch (ask him how to pronounce it). Paul’s vast knowledge and experience in the insulation industry have him involved in many aspects of Firwin’s day to day activities, in addition to overall company management and strategic growth.


Brett Herman, Vice President, Sales & Customer Service:

One of the more senior members of the Firwin team, Brett puts his 20+ years of experience to use in helping customers develop the insulation solutions that they need. In addition to overseeing the sales and customer service departments, Brett works closely with design and engineering and is well-versed in the field of heat flow simulation and CFD (computational flow dynamics). Brett holds a degree in mechanical engineering. As busy outside the office as in, Brett keeps himself occupied volunteering in his community and looking after his growing family.


Rael Herman, of Blessed Memory:

Rael was a Vice President and co-owner of Firwin Corp from 2007 until his untimely passing from brain cancer on March 9, 2019. He was an integral part of Firwin, and will be missed by not only the Firwin team, but by all those who came into contact with him both personally and professionally. Sidney Tannenbaum, Marketing Manager:

Sid’s duties at Firwin range from the traditional marketing activities such as creating marketing materials (brochures, information sheets, etc.), advertising, and press releases to writing Firwin’s quarterly newsletter and managing Firwin’s website. Sid also lends a hand to the sales department when necessary and assists with quoting. Sid joined Firwin Corp in 2006, and has an MBA from York University. Most of his out of the office time is spent enjoying his young family.


Jon Miles, Design & New Development Manager:

With Firwin Corp since 1998, Jon is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business products and potential customers, as well as enhancing customer relationships and liaising with Firwin’s sales representatives. Previously, Jon managed Firwin’s design department, creating the patterns for the multitude of different insulation requests that cross his desk. Jon holds a diploma in Industrial Design. In his spare time, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, renovating his home, and playing ice-hockey.


Joe Hajsan, Design & Sales Engineer:

Joe joined Firwin Corp in 2011. Joe holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and previous to Firwin was employed by a Plasma Cutting Company, where he worked in drafting and design. At Firwin, Joe oversees the sales quoting department. Given his background in design and knowledge of material specifications, Joe often finds himself looking after some of the more challenging projects. An avid back country camper, Joe likes to spend his time away from work in the Northern Ontario outback – tents are optional.

Ryan Dicy, Design Manager:

Ryan has been working at Firwin since 2010. Starting in production as a cutting machine operator, he soon joined the Firwin design team as a designer. He now manages the design department and works with his team to fulfill customers’ insulation needs. Outside of the office, Ryan designs costumes and is part of the AFOL community.
